How easy or difficult is it to program a project in a professional venue today? What costs must a company face when choosing to produce a project independently? What kind of profit can be expected from such a venture? And how do young (and not so young) artists manage to afford the cost of living in a city like Barcelona while maintaining their creative commitment?
Cris, Xavi, and Jordi are roommates and partners in an independent theatre company. They have been premiering shows for six years, yet they haven’t managed to escape the precariousness that 90% of the country's companies endure. Now, everything is about to change: Cris has just won the Born Prize for Theatre with her latest play.
We will witness the fruitless attempts of these three (not-so) young artists to mount a production that, on paper, seems to have everything in its favor. However, the country’s economic, political, and social climate makes it anything but easy. A true tragedy that—inevitably—is tackled with heavy doses of comedy, wit, critique… and passion. Always, passion!
